example

I don't remember what we were fighting about, but I do recall that DH was sitting down at the kitchen table and was probably working from his laptop. He said some heartless and disparaging words to me, and I snapped back the same old line, "What? You can't speak to me that way!"

I am sure that I waved my hand or my finger in some sort of dismissive gesture. At this point he accused me of getting in his face and went in to a rage, threatening to break my finger if I didn't stop pointing at him. I remember calmly reminding him that I was a good six feet away and I could point at him all I wanted to, I would not back down from the ugly words he spoke to me.

I am pretty sure my reaction was something like this, "Seriously?!? You want to break my finger because I won't let you call me a [whatever]?" "Are you so f$*%ing crazy that you would rationalize that just because I am so stupid to do [whatever] that displeased you and you just had to go and call me names again??"

Of course, this argument went nowhere. He accused me of mocking him then and continued to insist that if I would only "stay out of his face" that he would have never threatened to break my finger. As if all the things he said before the idea to break a bone weren't just as bad anyway.

Sheesh.
